How many types of IP address and what are they?
There are two types of IP addresses.
· private IP address
· Public IP address
private IP address:
Private IP addresses are
used to specifically connect two or more devices together. A private IP address
is used to connect computers to your home or office or to your local network.
You can not connect to an
external computer and use the internet with a personal IP address.
The private IP address is
used only for your personal computer. It can be configured with a modem or
router.
Public IP address:
Public IP
addresses are addresses that are provided by an Internet service provider. This
allows your home network to be exposed to the outside world. This IP address is
unique across the Internet. General IP addresses can be static or dynamic.
The static IP
address can never be changed and is often used to access IP cameras, FTP
servers, mail servers, or remotely access other computers. You will need to
purchase it from your ISP.
Dynamic IP
addresses use existing IP addresses and change whenever you are connected to
the Internet. Most Internet users have a dynamic IP address for their computer,
which is disconnected when they disconnect from the Internet and receive a new
IP if they reconnect to the Internet.
IP
address version :
After the IP
address is created for the first time, the IP address is updated to make the IP
address usable. After updating the IP address, a version of that IP address is
created. This version is also called by another name.
Many IP address versions
now use two versions of the IP address.
